The Upson County Board of Commissioners and the Upson County Volunteer Fire Departments will hold a press conference on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the City/County Government complex auditorium, 106 E. Lee Street, to begin the county’s blue address sign program. County Commissioners, Volunteer Fire Department representatives, law enforcement and other officials will speak and be available to answer questions. The public is invited. The Volunteer Fire Departments will have forms available for homeowners, business owners and other building owners to order their signs.
The undrilled 6”x12” horizontal signs are being sold for $6 and the undrilled 6”x18” vertical signs are being sold for $7.25. The volunteer fire departments may charge additional costs for posts, stakes, fastener sets and putting the signs up. Donations will be appreciated.
Ordinance 225, adopted November 2013 by the Upson County Commission, established the requirement for all buildings, homes and other structures to have visible, legible addresses posted by January 2015.
