County gives advisory on icy roads, announces government center hours

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office is warning of dangers of ice on the roads and trees.


According advisories sent out by the sheriff’s office:


“Sheriff James Woodruff is requesting everyone stay off the roadways due to icing. The roads will be extremely dangerous. If you must go out, use extreme caution. Remember our children are enjoying ‘Snow Days,’ watch out for them. …


Stay away from trees due to build up of ice on trees. Do not let children play near or under trees.”


County officials also announced that Troup County government offices are closed, but plan to open later Thursday:


“All non-essential personnel should report at 10 a.m. (Thursday). Please keep check on Code Red, Nixle and Facebook postings for any updates on this inclement weather event.”
