Six men face additional gang charges from two shootings that occurred since Nov. 2012
Four of the six were allegedly involved in two armed robberies on Nov. 29, 2012.
According to LaGrange police reports, two people were robbed of their cell phones on Callaway Avenue by three armed men that day. The second robbery occurred about ten minutes later, however the time is undetermined due to a delay in call time by the two victims. The second robbery occurred at the Tall Pines Apartments on Turner Street where the victim was robbed of his wallet, cell phone, coat and an unknown amount of U.S. currency. During this incident one gunshot was fired.
Lashon Boddie, 18, of Butler Street, Drexal McCurty, 19, of McGregor Street, Demarkeese Harrison, 20, of Elm Street, and Kendrick Smit, 20, of Cary Street, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery.
During the time of the investigation, members of the LPD’s Special Investigation Unit were investigating on going gang activity in the area of Turner Street and found that the four were active members of a criminal street gang at the time of the robberies. Police served them warrants at the Troup County Jail last week for four separate counts each of participation in criminal street gang activity.
Two were charged as gang members last week, from a shooting that occurred in August.
A police report said that Torrie Hardnett, 22, of Heritage Road, and Cordarius Johnson, 20, of Elm Street, had a third unnamed male with them at the the time a man was shot at Taco Bell on New Franklin Road. The three were allegedly involved in a argument with the victim in the Taco Bell parking lot where Harnett allegedly pulled out a gun and shot at the victim multiple times, one bullet struck him in the leg. The victim was able to flee to the 200 block of Ware Street where contact with police was made.
Investigations revealed that gang activity was the basis of the argument. In addition to Hardnett and Johnson’s arrest following the shooting, they were served arrest warrants for participation in criminal street gangs Thursday.
Police say more arrests are pending following investigations.
