School may be out for the summer, but that does not mean it is time to pack away all the books just yet. In fact, the annual Summer Reading Program at the local libraries is just getting started and there are lots of fun performers lined up for each week. Both the Hightower Memorial Library and the Yatesville Public Library are hosting the Summer Reading Program which has a theme of “Fizz, Boom, Read” this year.

The schedule for the rest of the Summer Reading Program performers is as follows: Thursday, June 5 will be Juggler Ron Anglin at 5:30 p.m.; Tuesday, June 10 will be Storyteller Carol Cain at 5 p.m.; Tuesday, June 17 will be a craft day where children can make and fly a paper airplane at 5 p.m.; Tuesday, June24 will be the Southeastern Reptile Rescue at 5 p.m. and Tuesday, July 8 will be the final program for the summer and is a craft day to make a wallet out of duct tape at 5 p.m.
Performers for the Hightower Memorial Library are as follows: Monday, June 2 will be the Southeastern Snake Encounter; Monday, June 9 will be Magic and Stories with Bill Packard; Monday, June 16 will be Doodle the Clown, Monday, June 23 will be Magician Ken Scott; Monday, June 30 will be Juggler Ron Anglin and the final program on Monday, July 7 will be Magician D’Avante Parks. All programs will begin at 2 p.m. As of press time, the Hightower Memorial Library is still closed due to unforeseen delays during renovations; however, the programs will continue as planned.
There is still time to join in on the fun and register for the Summer Reading Program if you have not done so already. For more information come to one of the programs or contact the Hightower Memorial Library at 706-647-8649 or the Yatesville Public Library at 706-472-3048.
