Upson-Lee High School has received a Dart Foundation STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Grant in the amount of $4,940. The grant funds will be used for equipment and materials for VEX Robotics classroom curriculum and robotics competitions. This grant will assist ULHS in providing more challenging, engaging STEM projects requiring students to apply critical thinking skills, solve difficult problems, and utilize both the engineering design process and the scientific method. ULHS teacher Jim Grubb will be the robotics instructor. This is the first year that the Thomaston area has been eligible to apply for grants from the Dart Foundation, and ULHS was the recipient of the first grant awarded in this area. The Thomaston-Upson School System would like to thank the Dart Foundation, local Dart Foundation members, and local Dart Container personnel: Human Resource Manager Karen Smith and Plant Manager John Ross.
