St. Valentine’s Day and Black History Month were both celebrated last week in Upson County. Friday night, Feb. 14, the Thomaston-Upson County Senior Center held its second annual St. Valentine’s Day Dance, with attendees ‘rocking out’ to the music. Left to right in the lower photo, Rev. Willie Dixon, Otis Solomon, Jr. (background with his wife Willie not shown), and Betty Parks enjoy dancing to the music at the dance. On Sunday, Feb. 16, the Thomaston-Upson County Concerned Citizens Coalition sponsored a Black History program at Mount Moriah Church. In the upper photo are the Heavenly Mime Family from Clark College Atlanta, one of several groups taking part in the program.
