Peachtree Jazz returning to Thomaston
After a successful inaugural TUAC concert/dance last year in Thomaston, the Peachtree Jazz Edition returns again to Phoenix Rising on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 7 p.m. For the upbeat cool temps and smoth, melodic jazz tunes, tickets are $25 each and reservations are required.
Critics call Peachtree Jazz “one of the best bands in Atlanta.” This big band dance band performs music for dancing or simply enjoying. Their musical genres include Swing, Big Band, Blues, Latin Jazz, and Easy-Listening Jazz by such notable artists as Glen Miller, Frank Sinatra , Natalie Cole, Melissa Manchester, and Willie Nelson.
The full big band instrumentation of 18 musicians is fronted by vocalist Toni Byrd of Memphis. Well-known tunes range from “Begin the Beguine” and Hello, Dolly” to “In the Mood,” “Straighten up and Fly Right,” “Tennessee Waltz,” “Moon River,” “The Way you Look Tonight,” and “Georgia on my Mind.” Heavy hors-d’oeuvres will be served.
Peachtree Jazz has played at social venues around Atlanta from the Druid Hills Country Club to the YMCA Dancing Under the Stars to the Gardens of the World Ball at the State Botanical Gardens in Athens as well as concerts at Spivy Hall and the Georgia Aquarium. T
