The Thomaston Police Department is continuing to investigate an incident in which a gun was fired in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Thursday, January 2, 2014. The two subjects involved in the incident have been interviewed by police, but as of press time Monday, no charges have been filed, and the two involved have not been identified.
According to investigators, the incidents happened when two men got into an argument over a parking spot just in front of the doors to the store. A black male who was unable to get the parking spot drove up next to a white male who had pulled into the space and said something to him to cause him to react.
The white male started back to his vehicle to get a baseball bat. The black male opened the door to his vehicle and a handgun fell out onto the pavement. The white male grabbed the gun, held it above his head and fired one shot into the air. After a few more words were spoken between the two, the white male gave the black male his gun back, and the black male drove off.
The white male was interviewed by police in the parking lot. A lookout was posted Friday for the black male, who came in voluntarily Saturday and gave a statement to police.
