The Thomaston-Upson County School System has announced a number of changes in its administrative staff. The following press release was issued on Wednesday, July 2:
The following personnel changes have been approved by the Board of Education and are effective immediately:
• Julie English has been named Director of Federal Programs. Mrs. English previously served as Director of Pre-Kindergarten, Director of Student Services, School Improvement Specialist, and Testing Coordinator. She will retain her duties as School Improvement Specialist and Testing Coordinator.
• Amy Miller has been named Director of Pre-Kindergarten and Coordinator of Student Services. Mrs. Miller previously served as ULNE Assistant Principal.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. English and Mrs. Miller as they step into these fundamental roles within the Thomaston-Upson School System.
• Dr. Larry Derico has been named Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. I know you will want to join us in congratulating Dr. Derico as he continues with his previous duties and responsibilities and provides instructional and administrative leadership for our school system.
• Dr. David Beeland, former T-U Director of Federal Programs, Director of Technology, Director of Fine Arts, and School Improvement Specialist, has accepted the position of Director of Federal Programs with the Barrow County School System. He began his new job today (Tuesday, July 1) in Barrow. We will miss him and his wife April (former ULSE teacher), and we wish him all the best and much success in this professional endeavor.
