To the citizens of Thomaston and Upson County, and the letter carriers:
Thank you so much for your generous donations of food during the National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive. Also, we would like to thank the letter carriers for their support. Without your hard work placing bags in mail boxes and picking them up, it would not have been possible to collect the 6,500 pounds of food. This almost 1,000 pounds more than last year.
For 40-plus years, the House of Care has been trying to meet the needs of those in need. It is not just a giveaway program, but a missions ministry. Your donation will enable us to meet these needs.
The need continues to be great. In 2013 we had 922 applications. This represents 1,734 adults and 547 children. Thanks to your generous donations, our shelves are full to start the summer months.
There is a saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In the same token, it takes a community working together to meet the needs of those who are in need.
Whether you gave one can or several, thank you for your donations and help collecting these items. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Elizabeth DeLoach or Vicki Huckaby.
