Action from Lady Knights Coed Softball Tournament

June 10, 2014

Thomaston’s Eddie “Hammer” Hammock, sporting an old “Rattler’s Brand” jersey, delivers a pitch in a first round game of the tournament.

Taylor English draws a walk, which turned into two walks. In coed softball the girls and guys must bat back to back, and if a guy walks, the girl behind him also walks. This keeps teams from intentionally walking a guy to pitch to a girl.

Jerry Chastain of Macon, drills a base hit in a second round game.

Harliegh Lippert and Skip Perry won the female and male Home Run Derby. Perry and Lippert are pictured with Lady Knights assistant softball coach Michael Kirby.

Caitlyn Asbell of Tifton, laces a base hit to left field. Asbell, who played college softball at Columbus State University, was one of many players from out of town which made the trip to Thomaston to play in the tournament.

Former Upson-Lee Knights baseball player Matt Crews fires the ball across the diamond to record an out. Crews, covered in dirt from head to toe, shows just how competitive the tournament was.
