The local unit of United Methodist Women, Thomaston First United Methodist Church, are making afghans, lap robes, and baby/children’s afghans and blankets for the families of service men and women in Georgia as their on-going mission project. Those pictured are UMW members representing each Circle, and have donated afghans, time or materials to make these afghans, lap robes and baby afghans. Also pictured is Chief Warrant Officer (Ret) Larry Dawson representing the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation. Their Family Assistance Coordinators will distribute these afghans to the families of Georgia men and women who have served our country. If you knit, crochet or sew, and would like to help Georgia soldiers and their families, please join us with this project. Monetary donations to purchase materials will gladly be accepted. We will be starting a “Stitching Time” for anyone who would like to get together for fellowship and making afghans. For more information, please call the First United Methodist Church at 706-647-3335.
