Chitlins and chili were the treats last weekend, while pumpkins and worship are the treats this Saturday. High Cotton (upper photo) was one of the bands playing last Saturday for the 3rd annual Smoke On The Water Chili Cook-Off at Bickley’s Lake. Winners of the Cook-Off were: 1st Place - Southcrest Bank’s Red Hot Chili Bankers; 2nd Place: Two Ole Men and a Pot; 3rd Place: Hop Sing’s Kitchen; People’s Choice Dawg Pound Grillers; Salsa: Two Ole Men & a Pot. After people had their fill of chitlins, bbq chicken, alligator on a stick, and other delicacies at the 31st annual Chitlin Hoedown in Yatesville, they could get a fried peach or apple pie from Dena Mason (right photo) at Maw Maw’s Fried Pies. This Saturday, RUSH Ministries will be hosting a free “Night of Worship for LIFE,” at the Upson-Lee Fine Arts Building at 6:30 p.m. The goal of the evening is to raise $5,000 to fund a safe house for one year to benefit four young girls who have been the victims of sexual trafficking in Atlanta. Also this Saturday is the annual Pumpkin Smash at The Rock Ranch. Bring your own pumpkin or pick one of their’s and smash it any number of ways, including with a mallet, a platform, and a monster truck. Admission is $15.
