The Flint River Wildcats scored early and often in their dominating Homecoming win over Young Americans Christian Academy. The host Wildcats were able to bench their starters for the entire second half of a 50-20 blowout.
Senior Jay Adams opened the game with a 78-yard kick return for a touchdown. Adams also scored on a 45-yard run later in the half. Quarterback Seth Short completed only two passes but they went for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns. Short also ran for a TD.
Flint River was very run-heavy, giving carries to 15 players for a total of 290 yards. Senior lineman Chase Tyson got a rare opportunity to run the ball late in the first half, scoring from 12 yards out. Receivers Jon McGinn, David Chester, and James Murphy each caught a touchdown pass.
Flint River’s defense had an impressive night, holding YACS to only 22 passing yards. The Cats also allowed only one third down conversion on eleven attempts.
The Wildcats get a much-needed week off before beginning region play against Community Christian on October 18.
