Teachers to let students cut hair for cause

October 7, 2013

Five Troup High School teachers will allow students to cut their hair next April as part of the school’s Relay For Life efforts. Blair Shimandle, Danielle Davidson, Kathryn Kirby, Chance Giddens and Lazette Reich have agreed to donate their hair to a program that makes wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment. Students who donate money to the cause will have their names placed in a hat for the chance to win an opportunity to cut the hair of one of these teachers at the spring pep rally. Several students at THS and other community members will be joining these educators in donating their hair at the pep rally next April. Giddens and Shimandle participated in the inaugural THS “Cut For A Cure” during school year 2011-2012, helping raise more than $2,500 for Relay For Life.
