Coach James Dawkins honored and cancer victims supported Saturday

September 17, 2013

From 9 a.m. in the morning until midnight Saturday, there was something for everyone in Upson County to do. The early morning activity was honoring Coach James Dawkins for his many years of selfless service to the youth and recreation in Upson County by naming the renovated football field behind the Government Complex in his honor. Left to right in the upper photo, provided by Rhonda Gulley, are Upson County Manager Jim Wheless, County Commissioner Lorenzo Walker, Recreation Director Mindy Daniel, County Commissioners Ralph Ellington and Frank Spraggins, Commission Chairman Rusty Blackston, Coach James Dawkins, ‘Miss Betty’ Dawkins, Randy Watson, First Baptist Pastor Bill Barber, and Jeff Middlebrooks of the Recreation Department. The Saturday night activity was the fifth annual Boobie Ball fund raiser for SUPPORT, an organization that assists cancer victims. There was plenty of good music and fun. In the right photo, High Cotton provides the music at the party.
