ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS The City of Thomaston is accepting sealed bids for the sale of surplus property determined to be scrap or "junk". The property is approximately several truck-loads of various scrap metal and "junked" equipment or vehicles. The material was collected from various equipment parts, recovered pipe, wiring, valves, and assorted scrap pieces. The material includes a former fork lift, tractor, stump grinder, bush hog accessories, and several junked vehicles. The sale of the material is "as is." The successful bidder will be required to provide the pricing for the various scrap material by the pound and a price per pound for vehicles or equipment. The city will deliver the material, vehicles, and equipment to successful vendor. The successful bidder is expected to submit payment in the form of a money order or cashier’s check on the day of the delivery. The material will be available for inspection by appointment. Sealed bids will be accepted at the Thomaston City Manager’s office until 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014. The prospective vendor must complete, sign, and submit the City of Thomaston bid sheet in order to be considered. The Thomaston City Manager’s Office is located at 106 East Lee Street, Thomaston, Georgia 30286. No bid may be withdrawn after the closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of thirty (30) days. On bid cover, please identify "scrap metal bid." LEE STREET, THOMASTON, GEORGIA 30286 until: August 12, 2014, 2:00 PM, Local Time For the construction of:CITY OF THOMASTON, GEORGIADAVIS LAKE ROAD WATER TANK REHABILITATION at which time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bids received after the designated time will not be considered. Bids received late will be returned unopened. The tank will be made available for inspection upon request. Contractors must contact Victor Cozart (407) 702-9732 to arrange access. Contractors wishing to climb the tank must provide proof of insurance and wear appropriate fall prevention equipment. The tank will not be drained for inspection of the interior. The approximate extent and character of the Work is generally described as follows: General repair, abrasive blasting cleaning, lead abatement, and painting the interior and exterior of a 500,000 gallon elevated water storage tank with containment and disposal of environmentally sensitive dust and blasting debris. Sealed Bids: Sealed bids for construction of the project entitled 2014 Residential Paving Improvements will be received until Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the City of Thomaston Offices, 106 East Lee Street, Thomaston, GA 30286, at which time and place they will be publicly opened and read. No bid may be withdrawn after the closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days. The Contract Period for this project will be 120 consecutive calendar days. 2. Work to be Done: The work will be awarded in one contract. Overview of the work to be completed includes full-depth reclamation and resurfacing of approximately 1 mile of residential streets and the installation of approximately 1,000 L.F. of curb & gutter along with associated drainage structures and piping. 3. Plans, Specifications and Contract Documents: Plans, Specifications and Contract Documents are on file at the City of Thomaston. The public hearing will be held at the main administrative building at 574 Triune Avenue, Thomaston, Georgia.
